Falcom still has not made even this much official as far as I can tell. Homosexuality as a topic remains a novelty in Japan and not taken seriously. It is titillated only for the player's amusement, but not at all to stir up actual conversation. This topic is taken more seriously in the West.

Like Ocean, Hynes is a queer artist who resists defining his sexuality with concrete labels; and, like Ocean, it would be difficult to imagine him doing so without the space for this kind of indeterminacy that Prince helped to create.
