He attainted the rank of Second-Class Scout. Camping and earning badges were some of the best parts of scouting for Eric. He is remembered as being helpful in the troop by former members. He was active as a child and youth participating in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, childrens handbell choir, childrens choir, participating in yearly cantatas and acting as an acolyte.
